A TV show's fan is full of regret after not realizing his Psych-themed tattoo has a double meaning.

User DmMeYourRightT** shared his tribute to the TV show with Reddit's r/tattooadvice community. The USA Network comedy-drama, which ran from 2006 to 2014, followed Shawn Spencer (James Roday Rodriguez), a detective whose keen observational skills allow him to convince people he has psychic abilities.

The photo shows a pineapple inked onto the poster's calf, along with a banner that reads "I know, you know."

The quote is a reference to Psych's theme song. However, the pineapple design, coupled with the quote, means the Redditor has been unintentionally attracting swingers.

"Long story short, it's a Psych reference that I just love, but more than that it's 100% a swinger thing (Oop)," the poster explained.

"Didn't realize it at the time, and my heart goes out to swingers, but sadly I'm not part of the lifestyle. Any help?" the poster went on. "Thinking of keeping the pineapple, but the words just need to go unfortunately."

Fellow Reddit users had plenty of suggestions for DmMeYourRightT**, with some ideas more useful than others.

"Add 'I am not a swinger' at the bottom," wrote brohenryvevo.

"Honestly, just put the word 'Psych!' next to it," said ErikEstoric. "It will show you are a fan of the show and any swingers checking out your calf will just think they got punked."

"Just stop wearing shorts. You're a pants man now," commented shiny-baby-cheetah.

"Sick a** panther HOLDING the pineapple," said absentmindedwitch, while letsplaydoctor suggested that the poster "embrace" the swinger aspect.

Other users pointed out that "swinger" pineapples should be upside down, meaning DmMeYourRightT** should not be getting so many requests.

"The swinger pineapple thing is an upside down pineapple. This is literally just a pineapple," said HoboThundercat.

"Right side up pineapples are symbols of the hospitality industry. Upside down pineapples are symbols of swingers," said boatsswainblind. "So unless you do headstands, you should only be mistaken for a hotel desk clerk who's super enthusiastic about their job."

According to TikTok's swinger community—also known as "Swingtok"—upside-down pineapples are "code" for partner swappers, particularly on cruises. This can be an actual pineapple outside your door, or it can be a clothing item or accessory, such as an upside-down pineapple pin.

The symbol reportedly helps swingers to identify each other, discreetly letting potential partners know they're interested while lowering the risk of an awkward encounter.

After being shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @foundbysara, the Redditor's tattoo went viral, receiving over 1.4 million views in just 24 hours.

DmMeYourRightT** isn't the only fan to experience a pop culture–themed tattoo fail.

A woman's David Bowie tattoo went viral in October, with the artist reportedly hungover when he inked the wonky Aladdin Sane tribute on her ankle. And in 2021 a band changed a song title to honor a fan's terrible ink after the tattooist left a glaring typo in the design.
