The 21-year-old singer disagreed with the Christian faith's teachings about elder sibling Frankie's sexuality but they both found a 'connection' with the offshoot of Judaism that has many a celebrity follower.

She explained: 'When my brother was told that God didn't love him I was like, "OK, that's not cool." They were building a Kabbalah centre in Florida so we both checked it out and really had a connection with it.'

The Problem hitmaker has learned a lot from Kabbalah teachings and feels they have made her a better person.

She told the Sunday Telegraph magazine: 'Since then, my life has unfolded in a really beautiful way, and I think that it has a lot to do with the tools I've learned through Kabbalah, I really do.'

Asked to explain these tools in more specific detail, the American singer said that 'you have to watch your intentions, make sure you're not giving in to your ego. You have to numb your reactive state. You have the power to change your reality'.

Kabbalah, an offshoot of Judaism, is a popular faith among Hollywood and music stars alike, with some of its most famous devotees including Madonna, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore.

Last year, the pop princess revealed part of the reason she had turned to the faith was because the Vatican had criticised her favourite cartoons.

Speaking to the Metro, she revealed: 'I was born Roman Catholic but I lost faith when the Pope decided to tell me everything I loved and believed in was wrong.

'[The church] said Spongebob Squarepants is gay and he's a sinner and he should burn in hell. And Harry Potter was a sin. And working women. I was like "Enough! First the gays, then Spongebob and now Harry Potter? Get out my house!" I was not having it.

'And the working woman thing? It was a moment for me. I needed something else to believe in,' she added.

Earlier this year, Ariana went public to defend her 31-year-old sibling - a former Broadway performer and YouTube star - who was appearing on the American version of Big Brother at the time.

The singer fired back against an Instagram user who made a homophobic comment against her brother, after she posted a photo of the two of them together.

'That ''homo'' is the fiercest, most incredible, funniest, most intelligent, kind hearted and most LOVED person on the face of the planet!,' Ariana posted to her millions of followers on Instagram.

'He also cleaned up his game and told the truth to everybody in the house WHICH by the way, nobody else on the show has done,' the singer said in reference to Big Brother.

She added to her social media rant: 'So i don't give a flying f*** if or when he comes home!!! he is incredible and i am SO proud!!!! oh and also ''that homo'' gets more a** than you'll ever get in your life. k miss thing?'
