On Tuesday's episode of My Big Fat Fabulous Life, Whitney Way Thore and her friends are in Alaska. Whitney has been prepping to complete and 8K, but while she's there, she receives some news she never expected: Buddy and Chelsea have broken up. Fans of the series will know that Buddy was in charge of watching Whitney's house while she was gone, they will also know that Whitney's home is the same place that a now-sober Buddy once used drugs and alcohol.
"All of a sudden Buddy texts and says Chelsea and I are fighting. I don't know what to say to Buddy," Whitney says in a sneak peek clip of Tuesday's episode, obtained by Newsweek.
Whitney quickly calls Buddy. "What's happening man?" she asks.
"I'm just a mess. I'm a neurotic mess," he tells her. "We're just not getting along. It's been extreme highs and extreme lows. So it made me question things and she's moving back to Illinois. That's pretty much it."
The news comes as a shock to everyone, especially Heather, who used to date Buddy. "I didn't expect Buddy and Chelsea to last forever but I definitely did not expect it to happen this quickly," she says.
Buddy confirms to Whitney the relationship is over, and it's not just a fight. "Yeah. It came to a head over the past two days," he says. "I don't feel like with Heather I was ever suspicious of her intentions and something about Chelsea I was just never comfortable. So I was always suspicious, second-guessing."
Like everyone else, Whitney was stunned by the quick breakup. "This is insane. I'm shocked," she says. "I don't know all the details of what has happened but they second they break up we all have to be like 4,000 miles away."
More than anything, Whitney is worried about how the breakup will affect his sobriety. "Then you should come out here. I'm sure there's a flight out of Raleigh tomorrow. Are you safe? Call Tal if you need to as a fellow person in recovery," she says. "You're gonna get through this and we all love you very much and we all be really happy to see you."
Whitney wants to make sure Buddy stays healthy. "This is like the worst situation for Buddy to be in because right now he's in Greensboro in my house, exactly where he used to drink and use drugs and he's in a really fragile state. I just want him to get to Alaska sober," she says.
Don't miss My Big Fat Fabulous Life when it airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on TLC.
