Time is running out to purchase holiday gifts for loved ones and as one TikTok user has learned, it might be better to get it done sooner rather than later in case any returns are needed.
Jack Murdoch decided to give his Labrador retriever named Hero an early Christmas present, but unfortunately, the video, which was posted earlier this month, revealed that the first meet-and-greet did not turn out as expected.
"Thanks but no thanks," the text on the video reads.
Turns out Hero got a new puppy sibling and well, she did not necessarily respond in the best way, completely ignoring the 8-week-old pup, Murdoch told Newsweek via TikTok.
In the video, which has over 10,000 views as of Friday afternoon, Hero can be seen incessantly sniffing her wrapped present. She was intrigued at first when the lid slid off to reveal a Labrador puppy named Nora sitting inside, but then after a few more sniffs, Hero left.
"Hero wasn't interested at all and spent her time just pretending she didn't exist," Murdoch said.
However, the good news is that Hero has come around after processing that the new dog was there to stay. Murdoch said they're best friends now.
"Nora climbs over her constantly licking at Hero's ears and Hero just lies and nuzzles and her like a mother," he added.
This is only just the start of a very beautiful friendship between the two labs.
Furry Christmas Presents
Plenty of people will burst into tears this holiday season as they open a box with a surprise puppy inside. It's a wonderful and thoughtful gift that everyone will remember, but it's important to realize dogs, and other pets, are a big responsibility.
Rover, a dog walking company, outlines on its website reminders that people need to take into consideration before gifting a puppy to a loved one. Between dog food, veterinary care, toys, bedding, and other supplies, dogs can be expensive. Plus, owners need to dedicate their time and energy training the dogs.
Ask yourself the following questions before gifting someone a new dog for the holidays:
- Can the person commit to 10-15 years of care?
- Are they allergic to pet dander?
- Will they have the financial resources to provide the animal with proper care and vet visits?
- Does the person live in a home where pets are allowed?
The best gift to give is puppy planning prior to surprising someone with a fur baby.
