It is something that would be traditionally handed down the generations.

But that was obviously not a concern for baseball star Ryan Howard and his new cheerleader wife Krystal Campbell as they took part in a money-spinning post-wedding photoshoot in Hawaii.

The newleyweds were only too happy to pose in their big day outfits while up to their knees in water on Monday.

Krystal, who was no doubt attracted to the multimillionaire Philadelphia Phillies star's sparkling personality, looked down ruefully at her gown after they made their way back onto the sands of Maui's beach.

Trashing the dress is something of a new fad, and the first baseman and now retired pom-pom waver where only too happy to take part by waded into the ocean while still wearing the clothes from their ceremony.

While the pair seemed happy as the photos were taken, there was a clear look of regret on the 33-year-old's face after he made it out of the sea.

The custom received a lot of attention earlier this year when one Quebec woman drowned in a river because the weight of her drenched dress prevented her from fighting against a swift current.

Luckily the pair are not exactly strapped for cash, with Ryan currently in the in the middle of a contract that will pay him $125 million over five years.

Her hunt for the dress was featured on TLC's Say Yes To The Dress, so at least they will have that to look back on.
